When an audacious highwayman held up his coach and pointed a pistol at a rather crucial part of his anatomy, the Marquis of Bathurst had a critical choice to make - give up his dead brother's ring or lose the family jewels. Gabriel decided to part with the memento, but only temporarily. He would track down the thief with the unforgettable green eyes if it were the last thing he did... Everyone knew of the scandalous reputation of the Rogues of London. So when their most infamous member took her in his arms at a society ball, Olivia Fairfax realized his intentions were far from honorable. Gabriel's hot pursuit made her pulse race, but was he after a lover - or the hellion who'd robbed him at gunpoint?

THE ROGUE AND THE HELLION was a pleasant surprise. The story was well written, the characters well developed, and I was hooked from the very first chapter. Gabriel feels a connection the very moment he sets eyes on Olivia (Ollie) when she holds up his coach. Shortly after, he spies her at a ball and immediately decides he wants her and is determined to have her - minus the benefits of marriage however. Gabriel is a rake in every sense of the word and ruthlessly tries to seduce Olivia again and again, but even so I still really liked him. Olivia was stubborn, hot-headed, but very capable. I loved her dearly and wanted her to find some peace and joy, instead of the day to day struggles she's had to endure. Gabriel has his own personal demons though and that being so, never intends to marry. But there's one man who is more than willing to wed Olivia, for his own selfish reasons, and will stop at nothing to accomplish that goal. Olivia and Gabriel have many rocky moments, but in the end their love is true and they find their happiness. Overall it was a fast and fun read, and I was so pleased with the epilogue at the end too. Would highly recommend it to all historical romance lovers like myself =)

The Rogue and the Hellion Connie Mason 9780843950205 Books Reviews

I enjoyed this book and its characters. It was very well edited, which I appreciated. I noticed only a couple of typos.

Although I thought the sex passages were well written and described, they did become repetitive. Near the end I found myself skipping the hot scenes. Not a recommendation I suppose.

Frequently, during the reading of the book, on "turning a page", my returned to the start of the book. I don't know if this was a fault of the ebook, or my new Paper White. I started remembering the location numbers so I could more readily "go to" the desired place in the story.

After reading the entire book, I am satisfied, but have no desire to follow the trilogy further.
What a surprising delight it is to discover a new author that can sweep the reader away into another time and make you forget life's realities. I applaud Ms. Masons talent in her ability to create not only a world but characters that make you want to jump into the pages and join their world. As with any great romance, there is the troubled soul who runs from love and the heroine that will eventually break down his walls to eventually hold his heart in her cherished hands. Yet what makes this book enjoyable is the heroine has a spine and pride of her own and is willing to turn her back on what society dictates to hold out for true love. Great book, quick read and when it is over you will be wishing there was more. Its a sign of a good book when you don't want to part with the characters the author created.
What an enjoyable read by Ms. Connie Mason. I really liked the heroine Olivia she was a very diverse character not only is she an impoverished earl’s daughter she is still a strong gutsy resourceful woman but quite a lady no matter what role she played. I really loved it when she played a highwayman though! Despite Olivia’s misadventures she manages to get herself out of a difficult situation with grace and courage. The hero Gabriel seemed pretty superficial to me though. He had this I look good and have money so everyone should adore me thing going on through most of the book. I do have to say that Gabriel didn’t seem all that smart to me even though he was a soldier he still manages to get held up several times by “Ollie.” As the book progressed he kind of irritated me too wanting to be intimate with Olivia every chance he got. Even though Olivia and Gabriel gave a very convincing portrayal of I am attracted to you and will sleep with you but don’t really what to be with you thing which even though they acted like this they kept sleeping with each other. Plus after getting this close several times I really think Gabriel should have told Olivia the truth about why he didn’t want a family earlier instead of avoiding the inevitable. I guess in actuality I really was not all that impressed with him as a character.
Even though I guess I didn’t really like Gabriel all that much I still think the book is an okay read well-written with hardly any spelling errors a fairly good story with many interesting plot twists and minor characters. Even though I rated the book 4 stars I would possibly read another of Ms. Mason’s books.
I liked the story line. Improvised Heroine turns to crime to support family, holds up the Hero - twice, Hero meets her at ball, becomes infatuated with her, tries to figure out how he knows her. Hero saves Heroine from Villain and life of crime. Bu this book has just about every regency romance cliche in it. It is really way too much.

I'm not sure if the original hardcover/paperback had all the typos or if that happened when it was converted to an ebook for . But someone should have proof read the kindle version before it was published. They were at least consistent throughout the book in misspelling Duchess as Dutchess.

I will probably read more books from this author, mainly because I do like the Hero's two friends. Bu the reviews on those books don't hold much hope that the writing improved.
